What is Nissan e-POWER?

Nissan e-POWER is a unique electrified powertrain that combines a petrol engine, battery and electric motor in a different way to traditional hybrids.

The key difference is simple:

The petrol engine does not drive the wheels.

Instead, it produces electricity which powers the electric motor or charges the battery. The electric motor alone drives the wheels, meaning the car always delivers an electric-style driving experience.

This system allows drivers to enjoy instant acceleration, smooth power delivery and quieter operation while still refuelling at a standard petrol station.
How Does e-POWER Work?

Fuelled by Petrol, Driven by Electric

An e-POWER vehicle uses petrol to generate electricity rather than directly powering the wheels. When you press the accelerator, the electric motor provides immediate power, giving you the smooth and responsive feel many drivers associate with electric vehicles.

This means you can enjoy electric-like performance without needing to plug in to charge.
Recharges While You Drive

There is no plug-in charging required with e-POWER.

The petrol engine generates electricity when needed. This energy can either:

Regenerative Braking

e-POWER also recovers energy that would normally be lost when braking.
