There’s exciting news from Nissan, as the brand has announced that the Nissan Kicks e-POWER is set to make its European debut – and even better, it will be built right here in the UK.

At Grainger Motor Group Nissan, we’re excited to see another electrified Nissan joining the European line-up, giving drivers even more choice when it comes to making the switch to electrified motoring.

    Meet the Nissan Kicks e-POWER

The Nissan Kicks is a compact crossover that is already available in markets around the world, with more than 1.8 million Kicks models sold across over 70 countries.

Now, the latest-generation Kicks is heading to Europe, bringing with it Nissan’s distinctive design, innovative technology and third-generation e-POWER hybrid system.

The arrival of Kicks will further expand Nissan’s electrified range, sitting alongside familiar models including the Nissan Juke, Qashqai and LEAF.

    What is Nissan e-POWER?

One of the standout features of the new Nissan Kicks is its e-POWER technology.

Unlike a conventional hybrid, the wheels of an e-POWER vehicle are driven solely by an electric motor. The petrol engine is used to generate electricity and recharge the onboard battery rather than directly driving the wheels.

For drivers, that means you can enjoy many of the characteristics associated with an electric vehicle, including smooth acceleration, instant response and a refined driving experience, while still having the convenience of filling up at a petrol station.

The Kicks will feature Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER system, which has been comprehensively re-engineered to deliver improvements in efficiency, emissions and refinement.

Built right here in the UK

There’s another reason we’re particularly excited about the announcement – the European Nissan Kicks will be manufactured at Nissan’s Sunderland Plant.

Nissan is investing £170 million to prepare the plant for production of the new model, which will be built alongside the Qashqai, Juke and LEAF.

The announcement comes during a particularly special year for Nissan Sunderland, as the plant celebrates 40 years of vehicle production in 2026.

Since the first Nissan Bluebird rolled off the production line in 1986, Sunderland has produced an incredible 12 million vehicles. The Kicks will become the tenth Nissan model to be allocated to the plant.

More electrified Nissans are on the way

The Kicks isn’t the only addition to Nissan’s European line-up.

Nissan has also announced a new A-segment electric car called the PIXO, while Sunderland is set to manufacture the next-generation Nissan Juke, which will become fully electric for the first time.

With new electric and e-POWER models on the horizon, it’s an exciting time for Nissan – and we’re looking forward to seeing what’s next.
