The all-new Nissan LEAF has been named World’s Best Compact Car 2026 by the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) jury, reinforcing its position as one of the most important and accessible electric vehicles on the market today.

Judged by 84 leading automotive journalists from 54 countries, WWCOTY recognises vehicles that excel in the areas that matter most to everyday drivers, including safety, quality, value for money, design, ease of driving, technology and environmental impact. This prestigious global accolade highlights the third-generation Nissan LEAF as a standout in the compact car category.

A New Chapter for an EV Pioneer

As one of the world’s original mass-market electric vehicles, the Nissan LEAF has played a historic role in accelerating the global shift to electric mobility. This latest generation builds on that legacy with a sleek aerodynamic design, advanced electric powertrain, and a 75kWh battery option offering up to 386 miles of range (WLTP) on a single charge.

The all-new LEAF also qualifies for the full UK Electric Car Grant of £3,750, with prices starting from £32,249, making zero-emission driving more accessible than ever.

    Technology Designed Around the Driver

The new LEAF is equipped with Google built-in technology, delivering seamless connectivity and convenience. Features include Google Maps, access to apps via the Google Play Store, and Google Assistant, allowing drivers to control navigation, climate and media hands-free while syncing personal apps and services directly to the car.

This intuitive technology ensures a confident, connected and stress-free driving experience – whether commuting locally or travelling further afield.

    Recognised on a Global Stage

“This recognition from WWCOTY reinforces our commitment to making EVs accessible and desirable for all drivers,” said Ivan Espinosa, Nissan President and CEO. “The original LEAF helped lay the foundation for global EV adoption. With its advanced features and technologies, this new generation makes everyday driving easier and more enjoyable.”

Founded in 2009, Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year is the only automotive award judged exclusively by women motoring journalists and aims to promote diversity, inclusion and innovation across the automotive industry.
