The Kia EV6 GT is a family-sized electric crossover that also happens to be fast. It sits on the same 800-volt E-GMP platform as the EV6 GT-Line S and EV9, enabling ultra-rapid DC charging, but adds dual motors, GT-tuned suspension and Kia's first electronically controlled limited-slip differential for the rear axle.

Power and Performance

The Kia EV6 GT uses a dual-motor AWD powertrain producing 585bhp (430kW) and 740Nm of torque in standard conditions. In GT mode, a temporary boost function increases output to 585bhp for up to 5 seconds during acceleration.

The 0-62mph sprint is completed in 3.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest production cars available at this price point. Top speed is electronically limited to 161mph.

Charging

Like all EV6 models, the GT uses an 800-volt electrical architecture for ultra-rapid DC charging. At a compatible 350kW DC charger, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 18 minutes, and 100 miles of range can be recovered in around 7.5 minutes.

AC charging via a 11kW on-board charger takes approximately 7 hours 20 minutes for a full charge from empty on a suitable wallbox. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability is standard, allowing the EV6 GT to power external devices from its battery.

Dimensions and Practicality

Despite its performance credentials, the EV6 GT retains the practical proportions of the broader EV6 range. Boot capacity is 480 litres to the rear seats, with a further 20-litre frunk (front trunk) in the nose. The interior seats five across two rows.

GT-Specific Technology and Design

The EV6 GT is distinguished from standard EV6 models by a wide range of GT-specific features - these include:

A GT-tuned sport suspension with 40mm wider tracks front and rear, twin-piston front brake callipers, bespoke GT exterior detailing with a matte finish diffuser, 21-inch GT alloy wheels, and GT bucket seats with suede-effect inserts and integrated headrests.

Inside, the 12.3-inch dual curved display (incorporating instrument cluster and infotainment screen) is standard, as is the Meridian premium sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, a wireless charging pad, and a full suite of Kia Connect services. Augmented Reality navigation is standard, overlaying directions onto a live front-facing camera view.
