A bold new family hatchback from Kia, arriving in spring 2026 at Grainger Motor Group.

The Kia K4 is a genuine step forward in the family hatchback class. It replaces the Ceed with a larger, more distinctive car that brings sharper design, a more spacious interior, and a richer set of standard features than most of its rivals at this price point. Available in three trim levels with a choice of petrol and mild hybrid powertrains, the K4 is on sale now at Grainger Motor Group.

Why Choose the Kia EV2

The K4 stands out in a crowded segment for a number of straightforward reasons. It is longer than a Volkswagen Golf and offers rear legroom of up to 964mm, which surpasses even the Skoda Octavia. Every car in the range comes with Kia's seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty as standard, and the comprehensive standard equipment list means even the entry-level Pure trim feels well-equipped. The K4 takes on established competition directly and does so with confidence.

Key Specification & Performance

Power & Performance

The K4 range opens with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 113bhp, which comes fitted with a 48-volt mild hybrid system as standard on all UK models. This unit is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and covers 0 to 62mph in 12.2 seconds with a top speed of 115mph. Buyers wanting more performance can choose the 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces either 147bhp or 177bhp depending on trim level, with 0 to 62mph taking 9.1 or 8.4 seconds respectively and a top speed of 128mph. The 1.6-litre is paired exclusively with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and carries no hybrid assistance.

Mild Hybrid Technology

The 1.0-litre engine in every UK K4 features a 48-volt integrated starter-generator and a 0.44kWh battery. This mild hybrid system harvests energy during deceleration and uses it to assist the engine when pulling away or accelerating, reducing fuel consumption without requiring any external charging. The system operates entirely in the background, so there is nothing extra for the driver to manage.

Dimensions

At 4,440mm in length, the K4 is a notably roomy car for its class. Boot capacity is 438 litres on 1.6-litre models, giving it a competitive edge over a number of rivals, while 1.0-litre mild hybrid variants offer 328 litres due to the battery being housed beneath the boot floor. Rear passengers benefit from 964mm of legroom, which is among the most generous figures in the segment.

Advanced Technology & Features

Cockpit & Infotainment

The K4's cabin is built around a triple panoramic display layout comprising a 12.3-inch digital driver cluster, a central 5.3-inch climate control screen, and a 12.3-inch infotainment and navigation touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the range, along with four USB-C ports throughout the cabin. Physical shortcut buttons for key functions such as home, map, and media are retained alongside the touchscreen, which keeps day-to-day use straightforward.

Connectivity & Updates

GT-Line S models gain Digital Key 2.0, allowing a compatible smartphone or smartwatch to act as the car key, including the ability to share access with other users via the Kia app. Over-the-Air software updates mean the K4 can receive infotainment and system improvements automatically, without a dealership visit. Adaptive ambient lighting, which adjusts in response to drive modes and active safety systems, adds a further layer of personalisation to the cabin environment.

Outstanding Safety Standards

Collision Prevention & Lane Assistance

All K4 models come with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, which monitors the road ahead for pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles and can apply the brakes automatically if the driver does not react in time. GT-Line S variants receive the more advanced FCA 2.0 system, which extends protection to junction and intersection scenarios. Lane Keep Assist and Driver Attention Warning are also fitted as standard across the range.

Driver Assistance Systems

GT-Line and GT-Line S models include Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, which warns of vehicles in the adjacent lanes and can apply emergency braking when pulling forward out of a parallel parking space. Smart Cruise Control 2 manages speed and following distance in traffic, and will safely bring the car to a stop if it detects the driver is unresponsive. Highway Driving Assist 2.0, available on higher trims, maintains speed and lane position on the motorway and is capable of initiating lane changes automatically when the indicator is used.

Space & Practicality

Cabin Room & Comfort

The K4 prioritises passenger space throughout. Front occupants have generous headroom and an adjustable, supportive seating position, while the rear offers the kind of leg space more commonly associated with larger, more expensive cars. Six-foot passengers can sit comfortably in both rows without compromise. GT-Line S models add heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel, alongside a tilting and sliding sunroof that brings natural light into the cabin.

Storage & Load Carrying

The boot in 1.6-litre models measures 438 litres and includes a height-adjustable floor along with space for a spacesaver spare wheel. The cabin itself provides practical storage throughout, including a centre console storage compartment and door bins front and rear. When more load space is needed, the rear seats fold to extend the available area further, and the low, wide boot opening makes loading straightforward.
