BYD Makes a Bold Statement at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026

The 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed once again proved why it's one of the world's greatest celebrations of automotive innovation, and BYD arrived with one of its biggest and most ambitious displays to date. In fact, BYD Group delivered its largest-ever presence at the Festival, occupying the biggest stand the company has ever showcased at Goodwood. The record-breaking exhibition highlighted BYD's rapid growth and ambition in Europe, while introducing two exciting new models to UK audiences – the BYD SHARK and the BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i.

  • BYD SHARK Makes Its European Debut

Making its European debut at Goodwood, the BYD SHARK is the brand's first plug-in hybrid pick-up and demonstrates how electrification is expanding into every vehicle segment. Combining rugged capability with advanced hybrid technology, the SHARK features BYD's Dual Mode Off-road (DM-o) powertrain, delivering an impressive 435PS while offering up to 55 miles of pure electric driving. It also boasts a towing capacity of up to 2,500kg, making it equally suited to work and adventure.

Throughout the Festival of Speed, visitors were able to see the SHARK in action on dedicated off-road demonstrations, highlighting its capability beyond the road while showcasing the benefits of BYD's latest hybrid technology.

  • Introducing the BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i

Alongside the SHARK, BYD also unveiled the DOLPHIN G DM-i to the UK public for the very first time. Designed as a practical and efficient compact hatchback, the DOLPHIN G DM-i brings plug-in hybrid technology to the supermini segment, combining low running costs with impressive usability.

The new model offers a claimed combined driving range of up to 646 miles, while still delivering the practicality expected from a family hatchback, including generous interior space and a class-leading boot. It's a clear indication of BYD's ambition to make electrified driving more accessible to a wider audience.

  • A Record-Breaking Presence at Goodwood

The SHARK and DOLPHIN G DM-i formed part of BYD Group's biggest-ever display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the manufacturer unveiling its largest stand in the event's history. Spanning an impressive 2,016-square-metre, three-storey exhibition space, the stand brought together the BYD, DENZA and YANGWANG brands under one roof, creating one of the festival's standout attractions.

Visitors were able to explore the latest electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, experience interactive technology displays, driving simulators and learn more about BYD's cutting-edge Blade Battery and charging innovations. The scale of the display reflected BYD's growing presence in Europe and its commitment to becoming a leading force in the future of sustainable mobility.

The event also saw several world and European debuts across the BYD Group portfolio, reinforcing the company's rapid expansion in Europe and its commitment to leading the future of electrified mobility.

  • Looking Ahead

With the introduction of the SHARK and DOLPHIN G DM-i, BYD continues to broaden its range, offering innovative electrified vehicles across more market segments than ever before. Whether you're looking for a capable plug-in hybrid pick-up or an efficient everyday hatchback, BYD's latest arrivals demonstrate the brand's focus on combining advanced technology, practicality and value.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 marked another milestone in BYD's UK journey.
